Description:
Since 1997, the idea and initial plans for implementing artificial groundwater recharge, storage and recovery using desalinated seawater in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has been developed.
The main objectives of the artificial recharge and utilisation of groundwater resources project in the Liwa Area are to: combine artificial recharge and recovery processes on a large scale; and to plan, implement and maintain a strategic drinking water reserve for Abu Dhabi City for emergency situations.
